Modern New Build with Natural Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring throughout the ground floor through to a spiral staircase.

In the spring of 2019, Mark and Julia embarked on an amazing adventure of building their own house in the beautiful market town of Bridport, Dorset.  In early 2020, they were ready for flooring to be chosen.  Bamboo flooring was their first choice due to its “eco-credentials, price, strength and attractiveness.”  The particular type of bamboo flooring that Mark and Julia chose was Natural Strand Woven Bamboo.  The natural, golden tones of the bamboo perfectly complement the rural setting of their modern home.

Mark and Julia’s new build has a bright and airy open plan living room, dining area and kitchen which looks out over the beautiful Dorset countryside.  The same natural coloured strand woven bamboo flooring was also chosen for the hallway, corridors, study, cloakroom, spiral stairs, and a double height music room.

The stunning spiral staircase has also been clad using the same bamboo floor and finished with matching natural strand woven bamboo stair nosing.  The flooring flows throughout the house and really blends with the stunning views and colours of the great outdoors.  We feel that the Natural coloured bamboo was the ideal choice for this property.  Strand woven bamboo is a durable and hardwearing floor, which is perfect for the open plan areas.  The flooring is easy to look after and keep clean, and due to its stability, it will be able to cope with the fluctuations in temperature from large windows and doors throughout the home.

Here the bamboo stair nosing has been used to finish off this stunning spiral staircase. The sustainability of bamboo flooring is one of the reasons that Mark and Julia chose to use it.  Bamboo is a fast-growing grass which can reach maturity in as little as five years, compared to two or three decades for hardwood trees.  It is also self-regenerating meaning that bamboo does not have to be replanted as it will simply continue to grow from the original root. Bamboo flooring is an excellent eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to hardwood flooring.

We love the fresh white décor throughout the home.  This combined with the natural bamboo, the floor to ceiling windows, and magnificent views of the Dorset countryside has created Mark and Julia a spectacularly unique home.

We were initially drawn to bamboo flooring due to its eco-credentials and its robustness. We are delighted with the finished product and how it enhances the ambience of our new house. It is easy to keep clean, is pleasant to walk on and always looks good. I have been recommending it wholeheartedly to my friends.”
