Carbonised strand woven bamboo flooring throughout the hallway, stair case, landing and four bedrooms

Nicole wanted to replace the carpet running throughout the hallway, stairs, landing and bedrooms of her detached home in East Riding of Yorkshire.

After looking at a few different alternatives, Nicole chose bamboo flooring as it is an “environmentally friendly, fast growing resource.”  The exact flooring is solid carbonised strand woven 125mm flooring, which Nicole has used with the matching stair nosing in order to keep the flow of the bamboo on the staircase. 

Strand woven bamboo is a great choice for any busy area, especially a hallway, as it is over twice as hard as Oak flooring, but still gives you the elegance and sophistication of a natural product.  Bamboo flooring is also really easy to look after and keep clean, making it the perfect floor for this contemporary house.  We love the continuity of the same floor linking the ground floor to the upstairs of Nicole’s home. 

This particular type bamboo flooring has been smoked and heat treated, to give it the deep brown carbonised colour.  We love the way that the rich brown tones contrast with the bright white woodwork of skirting boards, architraves and doors. It adds a warmth to the rooms, while maintaining a fresh and modern feel throughout.

To add the finishing touches to the flooring, Nicole also used matching carbonised strand woven door bars between the landing and the bedrooms.  This really helps to join the flooring together while keep the bamboo flow throughout the upstairs rooms.     Nicole was very happy with the customer service at The Bamboo Flooring Company and thinks that “the flooring looks beautiful, it gives a warm feeling to the house, it’s great to walk on and easy to keep clean.”  It also brings back fond “memories of living in Japan for a couple of years as a young adult”. “Our builder also found this to be an excellent and high quality product and the installation went very well.” Nicole, East Riding of Yorkshire
