How is bamboo sustainable?

Firstly, bamboo is extremely eco-friendly as it is a grass, not a tree.  The bamboo grass grows at a fast rate, reaching maturity in around 5 years (compared to 25+ years for hardwood trees).  The bamboo can be harvested in such a way that entire forests are not flattened.  The farmers will section the bamboo forests into areas of different growth.  Meaning that once one section is ready to be harvested, the other sections are continuing to grow.  Furthermore, this allows the farmers to have healthy and abundant crops every year. Bamboo is also a very sustainable product. The crops of bamboo grass are easily harvested without damaging the root.  As bamboo is a self-regenerating plant, it will continue to grow immediately after harvest.   As a result it eliminates the need for re-planting the crops. In recent years, bamboo flooring has become extremely popular, due to its eco-friendly and sustainable properties.  It is a great alternative to hardwood flooring. Most of all, Strand Woven bamboo flooring is over twice as hard as Oak, making it an even more attractive choice.
