Which Bamboo Flooring Accessories do I need?

Bamboo flooring accessories are fantastic products which add the final touches to any room with bamboo flooring.  They will cover expansion gaps around the edge of the room, cover gaps in doorways, and also give a smooth transition between different floor coverings.

We stock a wide range of bamboo flooring accessories matching all of our different types of bamboo floors. All of our bamboo flooring accessories are made from solid bamboo.  Furthermore, each of them has a different job.  You will want to make sure you select the correct accessories for your particular project.

What are the different types of bamboo flooring accessories?

Bamboo Skirting Board

These are primarily used to cover the expansion gap around the edge of the room.  They simply sit on top of the bamboo flooring, against the wall.  They also help to protect the base of the wall and prevent damage to the paintwork or plaster.

Bamboo Beading

You would use bamboo beading if you already have existing skirting boards on the wall that you wish to keep. You should still leave an expansion gap around the edge of the room, and then the bamboo beading sits on top of the bamboo flooring, against the skirting board.

Bamboo Stair Nosing

You will only need to use bamboo stair nosing if you are fitting bamboo flooring onto your staircase. The bamboo flooring must be glued to the staircase and the stair nosing sits at the edge of each step. There are two different types of stair nosing.  If you are unsure which one is correct for you, then pop into our showroom or give us a call.

Bamboo T Moulding

A T-moulding is used to conceal an expansion gap in a doorway.  You would use a T moulding if the floor on both sides of the doorway is the same height.  Both sides of the doorway must also be a solid floor. For examples, bamboo to bamboo or bamboo to hardwood.  You cannot use a T Moulding with bamboo to carpet.

Bamboo Threshold

You will want to use a bamboo threshold to conceal your expansion gap in a doorway.  Therefore, use a threshold if you have bamboo flooring on one side and carpet on the other.

Bamboo Ramp

A bamboo ramp is sometimes known as a ‘flush reducer’.  Again, this is used to cover an expansion gap in a doorway. You would use a bamboo ramp when you have bamboo flooring on one side and a lower lever floor on the other. E.g. bamboo floor to vinyl tiles. We are more than happy to help with any questions you may have about bamboo flooring or matching accessories.
