Skirting Board

Bamboo skirting board is a great way to finish your bamboo flooring. Skirting board is used to help protect to the base of the wall and helps prevent damage to paintwork or plaster.  To ensure adequate movement for the bamboo floor you must leave an expansion gap of approximately 10mm around the perimeter of the room. By doing so this allows the flooring to expand and contract naturally throughout the summer and winter months, preventing problems with the floor lifting etc. in the future. Once the floor has been completely fitted, the skirting boards are used to conceal the expansion gap between the wall and the flooring.

Why do I need a bamboo skirting board?

A bamboo skirting board is a great choice to cover up the expansion gap that has been left around the edge of your room. We have a range of bamboo skirting boards to match and complement your choice of flooring.  Alternatively, if you don't want to remove your existing skirting board then you can use bamboo floor beading to perfectly match your chosen bamboo floor and cover the expansion gap.

If you would like to know more about leaving an expansion gap around the edge of your room please have a look at Does bamboo flooring need an expansion gap?, which should help to explain things in more detail.
