How is strand woven bamboo flooring made?

Strand woven bamboo flooring is made by compressing bamboo fibres under extreme heat and pressure. This gives strand woven bamboo flooring its great strength and durability.

After the bamboo has been harvested, it is cut, stripped down and shredded into bamboo fibre strands, before being woven together. If the final product is to be natural strand woven bamboo then the fibres are left in the natural state. If the final product is to be carbonised strand woven bamboo flooring, then the fibres are smoked to provide a warm, coffee coloured bamboo.

During the next stage in production a resin is added to the bamboo and it is then compressed under extreme heat and pressure to form a solid block of strand woven bamboo. This solid block is then
machined into planks of flooring. Protective layers of lacquer are added and a tongue and groove profile or click fitting system are machined onto the planks. The
strand woven bamboo flooring is now ready to be packaged and distributed.
