We often get asked, ‘how do I look after my new bamboo floor?’, so thought we would put together some top cleaning and maintenance tips to follow.  Looking after your bamboo floor is essential, and it can be very easy if you follow these simple steps:

Implement a simple cleaning routine:

All you need to do is sweep your floor with a soft bristle brush to remove any dust, dirt or pet hair.  This can then be followed by cleaning your floor with a pH neural wooden floor cleaner.  We would recommend the Bona Spray Mop.  It has everything in one mop: refillable spray handle, washable microfibre pad, swivel head and ready to use cleaning solution.

Be consistent with your cleaning:

Being consistent with your cleaning routine is really important. We would recommend sweeping every day, and then cleaning at least once a week, but more often if needed.

Protect your bamboo from unwanted damage:

Protecting your bamboo floor is an important part of looking after it.  Here are a few things you should think about:

• Remove any footwear before walking on your bamboo

• Wipe up any water or liquid spills straight away

• Apply felt protector pads to the bottom of your furniture

• Avoid dragging heavy or sharp items across your floor

• If you have a rug on your bamboo, move it around slightly every few weeks

Avoid the following products:

There are some cleaning products that you should avoid using on your bamboo floor:

• Furniture polish – can make the floor slippery

• Steam mops – can penetrate into the bamboo and cause damage

• Wet mop – always wring out a mop before using on your bamboo

• Acidic or abrasive cleaning products – these could scratch or damage your floor
