When you are cleaning your bamboo floor there are some simple steps you can take to ensure you are achieving a thorough clean without causing any damage.  Bamboo flooring is easy to clean.  You will find bamboo floors fairly resilient, but you do need to be careful about which cleaning products you use.

Bamboo floors can last a lifetime if you look after them properly.  It doesn’t take much time or effect to keep your bamboo looking clean and fresh. We would advise following these simple steps when cleaning your bamboo floor:

Adopt a regular cleaning routine

Having a regular cleaning routine for your bamboo floor is the first step to keeping it looking clean and fresh. The best way to keep your floor dust and dirt free is to sweep the surface on a daily basis.  This will only take a few minutes but will keep your flooring looking great and prevent it from being damaged by any stones or grit that may have found its way onto your floor.  When sweeping, we would recommend using a soft bristle brush as this is delicate yet effective. Alongside sweeping your bamboo floor we would also recommend cleaning it with a wooden floor cleaning solution and mop.  This can be done as often as needed but we would recommend at least once a week.  It will freshen up the surface of the bamboo and remove any stubborn marks.

Use the correct cleaning products

Always use cleaning products that are suitable for bamboo or wooden floors.  Here is a quick guide showing the dos and don’ts of cleaning products.

• pH neutral wooden floor cleaning spray

• Microfibre mop

• Water, mop and bucket – you must wring out the mop fully with no excess water

• Vacuum cleaner with wooden floor cleaning attachment

• We would highly recommend using the all in one Bona Spray Mop. Never use the following:

• Excess water

• Any harsh or abrasive products like bleach

• Steam mop – this will cause damage to your floor

• Furniture polish
