Bamboo flooring is a great choice if you are looking for a sustainable floor that looks beautiful and will last a lifetime.  Bamboo is available in two main types of flooring planks: Single Plank or Parquet Block.

Single plank flooring can be found in a variety of plank sizes, finishes, and with either a tongue and groove fitting or a click fitting system.  Parquet block, on the other hand, is a standard sized block of flooring.  It can be used to create beautiful patterns and designs.

Single Plank Flooring

The most common and popular type of bamboo flooring plank that you will find is the ‘single plank.  It is simply bamboo flooring that is in a plank shape rather than a block.  Single plank bamboo flooring can be either solid bamboo or engineered bamboo.  The choice is yours, depending upon your needs and requirements. Using single flooring planks of bamboo can make installation extremely easy, especially if you choose uniclic bamboo, which has a simple click and lock fitting system. You can either float uniclic bamboo flooring over an underlay or fix it straight to the subfloor.  You can also use it with your underfloor heating system.  If you would prefer tongue and groove single plank bamboo flooring, then you will just need to be more careful when fitting it.  Ensure you use WPVA glue to slot the tongues and grooves together, making a tight and secure fit.  You can also glue down both types of single plank bamboo flooring.

For more information of installing single plank bamboo, have a read through our How to Install Bamboo guide. Single plank flooring is quite versatile and can be found in a variety of colours, textures, plank sizes and grain patterns.  Some types (strand woven) are even over twice as hard as Oak flooring, so will make a great floor for your busy areas like hallways and living spaces.  For more information about the profiles, structures and finishes of our bamboo flooring, have a look our Guide to Bamboo Flooring.

Why should I choose single plank bamboo flooring?

If you decide to choose single plank bamboo flooring, then you will not regret it.  It has all the advantages of bamboo flooring and will give you an elegant and natural floor covering.  Single strip bamboo is so versatile that it can be used in almost any room in your property.  Some types can even be used with underfloor heating and are strong and durable enough for commercial properties.  It is extremely easy to care for and clean, and will last for decades if looked after properly. With single strip bamboo you are getting a strong, hardwearing and a sustainable flooring.

Another great reason to choose single plank bamboo flooring is that it is available in a wide variety of choices.  Some of the colours include, natural bamboo, carbonised, chestnut and stone grey.  The finishes include, a rustic appearance, a distressed texture, a matt finish or a satin matt effect.  The single plank bamboo sizes vary too.  If you want a wider plank to complement a large space, or a narrow plank for a smaller cosy feel, we have every option covered.

We even have a range of matching bamboo flooring accessories to add the finishing touches to your room.  You are sure to be able to find something that will suit your style of home.

Parquet Block Bamboo Flooring

Parquet block bamboo flooring is an elegant and chic alternative to single plank flooring.  The actual parquet blocks are much smaller than planks and are made in a uniform size.  This means that you can create beautiful geometric patterns with the blocks of bamboo.  All of our parquet block bamboo flooring has a tongue and groove fitting profile, which allows the different patterns and effects to be created.  The most popular patterns to create are herringbone, basket weave and brick bond.  Because of the patterns created, installing parquet block bamboo flooring can be quite time consuming and intricate, so we would always advise using a professional floor fitter.  You will not be disappointed with the added character and charm this type of flooring will bring.

All of our parquet block bamboo flooring is made from strand woven bamboo. This means that during manufacture, the bamboo fibres have been shredded and compressed together to create an extremely strong and durable, natural floor covering.  Strand woven bamboo is over twice as hard as Oak flooring so is ideal for well used areas of a home, or even commercial buildings.  For more information about strand woven bamboo, read our blog article: What is Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring?

Why should I choose parquet block bamboo flooring?
