Dark Bamboo Flooring

The natural colour of bamboo is a pale golden colour, so to achieve a darker coloured bamboo flooring usually means that the bamboo has been carbonised or stained.  Dark coloured floors are becoming increasingly popular and create a sophisticated and chic presence to any room. A carbonised bamboo floor simply means that the raw bamboo has been carbonised, or smoked to give it a rich brown coffee colour all the way through.  The bamboo has then been made into flooring planks as usual.  To find out more about carbonised bamboo, read the following article: What is Carbonised Bamboo Flooring?

If you decide to choose a bamboo floor than has had a colour stain added to give a darker coloured appearance, then the flooring planks are made first.  Then the colour stain is applied to the surface before being lacquered.  Have a look at our blog article: Bamboo Flooring: Dark Vs Light, for more information about which may be the best colour floor for your project.
