Our choice of bamboo floors cover a range of different thicknesses of the flooring planks.  You will find bamboo flooring with thicknesses ranging from 10mm to 15mm depending upon the style and type of flooring that you choose.

The thickness of the planks of bamboo flooring really depends upon how the flooring has been designed and manufactured.  Once the flooring has been installed it will look the same as another similar type of bamboo flooring. 

It is important to remember that the thickness of the flooring does not affect the aesthetics of the flooring in any way.  You will still need to choose the colour, construction type and surface finish that you prefer as this will be what will be visible once the flooring has been installed.

Thickness is important if you are renovating an existing room as you may want to think about the depth that you have between the subfloor and any doors.  This may help you to decide which thickness to choose.  If you have no restrictions on thickness of the bamboo then just choose the style and type of bamboo that will suit your needs and personal preference.

Which thickness of bamboo flooring should I choose?

The thickness of the bamboo flooring can be an important factor if you are laying it in a room that is being renovated and you need a certain thickness so that it fit underneath the existing doors and wood work.  The thickness of the planks of flooring can also be significant if you have a tight budget. 

Generally speaking, a thinner board can be found at a more cost effective price as less bamboo has been used to create the product. It is, however, very important to remember that the thickness or depth of the plank of bamboo does not affect the quality of the floor in any way, shape or form. 

Bamboo flooring has many advantages and is a great alternative to hardwood floors due to its stability, strength, eco-friendliness and cost effective price. 

How do I install different thicknesses of bamboo flooring?

The way in which you install your bamboo flooring is irrelevant to the thickness of the planks of bamboo.  All types and thicknesses of bamboo flooring can be either floated over an underlay or fixed to the subfloor using secret nails or flexible flooring adhesive.
